Though fixed marriages may still exist these days so as breaking barriers in the name of love. Choosing your partner is a crucial decision that makes a life-changing impact. Unlike when you’re still single, your spouse will always be a reason in your goals and lifestyle. In the INC’s report, they shared a study that suggest marrying a person with positive attitudes such as prudent and conscientious will influence you eventually. Thus, it’s recommended not to expect that you change your sweetheart, but be sympathetic to each other.
“Our study shows that it is not only your own personality that influences the experiences that leads to greater occupational success, but that your spouse’s personality matters too,” shared Joshua Jackson, PhD, assistant professor of psychology in Arts & Sciences and lead author of the research from Washington University in St. Louis.
The research revealed that employees’ spouses play important roles when it comes to their passion, motivation for salary increase, and success in getting promotions. Why? Because a partner who is “supportive with highly conscientious personality” will not hinder your career goals.
Meantime, Psychology Today suggested that few factors to consider in choosing your partner are “you have something in common” and “listen and observe exactly who he or she is.” These are important because at the end of the day, you have to your partner’s personality.
