How do you know if you are overdoing it? Here are some things to keep in mind to enjoy the celebration and keep your reputation intact:
LOOSEN UP A LITTLE BUT KEEP ON GUARD AT ALL TIMES
Office parties are meant for employees’ relaxation and enjoyment. It’s one of the few times where you can relax and loosen up a bit. You can talk with your workmates about anything except work. Smile, wave, have a glass of wine and dance a little. Enjoy the party and laugh with your workmates.
But be careful that you don’t lose your guard. Be a little sensitive about your body language. Choose a classy and comfortable dress but don’t reveal too much. Set the line between casual touching and flirting.
BE BEAUTIFUL BUT NOT TOO REVEALING
You wear office attire every day. Office celebration is an opportunity to reveal the lighter side of yourself. It doesn’t mean that you can pull out that night club dress from your closet.
Just choose classy attire, not a revealing or a flashy one. This way you can enjoy the party without degrading yourself.
BE SURE TO ATTEND BUT DON’T OVERSTAY
Office celebrations are organized for the employees. So never pass up on an office party invitation. Not attending could hurt your reputation.
When you attend, make sure you stay for a few hours. Don’t make up excuses for leaving the party early unless it’s an emergency. But make sure you don’t overstay, either.
KEEP IN MIND THAT IT IS STILL AN OFFICE AFFAIR
Office parties are also considered an office matter. So avoid bringing your family members along. Set a different party for your family.
But there are also office parties where you can bring along family members so that you can bond together with other families. Make sure you know the rules before bringing someone alone.
AVOID KEEPING LEFTOVERS
There can be so much food during an office celebrations and it is very tempting to bring home some. But you have to resist the temptation. Unless the party is over and your boss says that you can take home the leftover foods.
AVOID NEGATIVITY
You are there to celebrate and enjoy. So avoid negative talks, bragging and complaining. Just relax and enjoy the party.
Companies allot a budget for office parties as a sign that they appreciate their employees. So enjoy the party and go back to work feeling energized, and refreshed for another year of work.
