One of the keys to a successful company is its employee’s productivity. It is a challenge, every manager must learn to handle. There are studies which show that non-management employees are not motivated.
This also means that many employees don’t work with their full capacity.
Here are some management practices which you can implement to help your employees work to their full potential:
PROVIDE MANAGEMENT TRAINING AT ALL LEVELS OF ORGANIZATION
A good leader must be able to experience how it is to be at the lowest level of organization. This will enable them to experience empathy to the employees. But if this is not the case, then managers need to undergo training. The early, formative stage of being a manager needs more intensive training.
This way, managers can learn skills and management practices to handle their team.
ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS
As a manager, you need to earn the respect of your employees. Seeing their manager act in a disrespectful manner will demoralize them. One management practice to earn their respect is to set a good example to them. Do you want punctuality?
Then go to work on time. You want them to give their best? Show them how it is done.
GIVE EQUAL RESPECT TO EVERYONE
Everyone deserves respect from the lowest to the highest level of management. Your employees even on the lowest level have their own drive and ambitions in life. Motivation comes when your employees feel your genuine respect. They will be willing to give their full effort, and give their best to help the management and the company.
ENSURE THAT THE EMPLOYEE SUPPORT IS ADEQUATE
Another management practice is to provide support to your employees. Don’t only focus on making them work hard. Make sure you take into consideration the hindrances to their productivity. It may require purchasing new equipment to replace obsolete ones.
It may involve emotional support in case of personal or work related problems. An employee who feels your genuine support will be willing to work hard and give their loyalty to the company.
PROVIDE A CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK
A regular feedback will show your employees that you are observing what they do. It will also show your appreciation for their efforts. It will also give them a chance to realize their weakness and shortcomings and how you can both deal with them in a positive way. Make sure you are giving constructive criticism at all times.
Make your employees feel that you are working with them and not against them. After all, the success of the company lies within the people who work with each other and not against each other.
