So, as a supervisor, choosing your employee is critical the company’s success. Here are some effective ways to find a good candidate for your company:
CHECK FOR COMPETENCE
This may seem old school, but it is still the first thing to check on a good candidate. Check their resume; ask about what skills and learning they have. Ask how they can contribute when your hire them to be a member of your company.
Let them relate an experience where they have used they knowledge and skills from their past work experience.
ASK HOW THE CANDIDATE ADAPT TO CHANGES IN THEIR WORK ENVIRONMENT
Aside from personal qualifications, you can also check for adaptability. A good candidate must be highly adaptive to change.
Let them give you examples of how they were able to shift, grow, and evolve to a change in their workplace. The capacity to take on new challenges and roles are very critical within a company.
CHECK FOR COMPATIBILITY
A good candidate must not only possess competence and adaptability. You should also check how a candidate gets along with colleagues.
You should also let them relate how they deal with potential clients or with supervisors. You can also ask how they maintain harmony in the workplace despite stressful situations.
LET THEM ASK QUESTIONS
A good candidate does a research about the company and the position that they are applying for. After you’ve asked about them, let them ask about the company.
Are they able to come up with a great question about the passion of the company? A question from a candidate can give you an insight into how they think and analyze things.
CHECK HOW THEY HANDLE MISTAKES
It is natural for a job candidate to be enthusiastic in relating in giving you an account of achievements and accomplishments. Give a little twist. Instead of dealing with accomplishments, ask about how the candidate copes up with mistakes.
Look for a candidate who can readily describe their failures and what they learned from it.
Hiring a candidate for a job position is not an easy task. The hiring process will be costly if you hire the wrong persons. Remember that there is no candidate who is perfectly matched to any position. You have to observe and ask the right questions to catch the candidate you needed for the job.
