According to Joseph Folkman and Jack Zenger, many aspects of leadership still remain a mystery.
This is true despite the fact that many scholars and researchers tried to explain the nature of leadership.
What do we mean when we say that leaders should be inspiring? Folkman and Zenger took the 1000 most inspiring leaders and clustered them together.
Here are some leadership approaches done by this leader to inspire others:
BE A VISIONARY
To inspire others to take action, you must provide a clear picture of what you would want to see in the future. You must give them the reason why they should stand up and take action. The leader must learn to communicate these goals with the team members.
In turn, the team members should be able to come up with smaller goals in relation to the future goals given by their leader.
CREATE A POSITIVE ONE ON ONE PROFESSIONAL RELATIONSHIP
One extraordinary characteristic of an inspiring leader is the ability to remember and recognize people. They have the ability to establish one on one relationship with their team members. They inspire by knowing each member on a personal level. A great leader is a listener and can connect emotionally with team members.

HAS A POWERFUL DRIVE
A leader can also inspire by helping each individual to focus on their goals. If they focus, the team members can achieve something every day. This sense of achievement tends to motivate employees to take action every time a challenge comes up. They feel the accountability and reliability of their leader.
PASSIONATE
To be able to inspire, a leader should show passion for everything. They pursuit their goals wholeheartedly. They don’t mind what they can take out of the situation. It is always been what they can do to make the situation better.
BE A ROLE MODEL
A leader can earn everyone’s respect if they “walk-the-talk”. Oftentimes it is not what they say but what they do that can inspire or de-motivate their team members.
ENTHUSIASTIC
Pursuing a goal and beating the deadline is stressful to anyone. A leader, to inspire, must have the extraordinary energy to accomplish things.
HAS EXPERTISE
A leader must have gone to several rigorous training in to gain the necessary skills. These technical skills are needed so that he can give skill and a sense of direction to team members.
It is easy to be called the leader or a manager. But to be an inspiring leader takes a lot of courage, passion, and dedication. You need all of these in order to motivate and enhance your team member’s productivity.
